Sanctuary of Santa Eulalia de Mérida
7 kilometres from the old town of Totana is located this Mudejar style church, where year after year the Totaneros gather to honor their patron saint. Totana is a city of traditions and its people are one of the most devoted in the region. In fact, special months such as January and December, they usually go out on pilgrimages to the sanctuary and organize days of coexistence.
The interior of the temple is covered with paintings, from 1624, that allude to the life of the Virgin, Jesus Christ and the Franciscans. In total there are about 48 frescoes that, together with the coats of arms of the surrounding towns, reflect the importance of the Sanctuary for the people of Totaneros. Admission is free.

La Bastida de Totana
The La Bastida de Totana site is located 6 km northwest of the Murcian town of Totana, in the Viñas-Carivete area. It occupies a steep hill at the confluence between the Rambla de Lebor and the Salado ravine.
La Bastida is the first Argaric enclave discovered and, currently, one of the most important in European prehistory, specifically in the so-called Bronze Age.
The archaeological work, which continues today, shows an authentic city of about 40,000 m2 that, in its heyday, about 3,800 years ago, was inhabited by about 1,000 people. At that time, it was one of the largest settlements in Europe and the western Mediterranean.

Santiago Parish Church
The Church of Santiago (St.James) was built during 1535 - 1567. The new church was built due to the considerable increase in the population, given that the small church of La Concepción, existing only as an annexe to the church of Santa María de Aledo, was insufficient to house the community in their religious ceremonies.
It features a baroque-style facade, a Mudejar ceiling and a bell tower.

San José Church
The hermitage is located in the San José neighbourhood, which is one of the oldest in the city of Totana. Characteristics of this neighbourhood are its narrow and steep streets, with old single-storey houses, where you can breathe the tranquillity of the town.
Formerly, the area was known as the Castle neighbourhood. Due to the poverty of the residents of this neighbourhood, who attended Mass in the Saint James Parish Church, the richest residents of the city asked the Totana City Council to build a hermitage in the neighbourhood so that these residents would not go to the church of Saint James, with its indecent clothes.
The hermitage was built at the end of the 17th century and consists of a building with a single nave covered with a semi-circular vault. Inside, we find simple decoration.

San Roque Church
San Roque Church was built in the 18th century, after moving it from the entrance to the town where it was located in the mid-16th century to request the protection of San Roque, protector of contagious diseases.
On the main façade there is a tombstone on which, along with other information, appears the date of construction: 1761. In this hermitage the image of Santa Eulalia awaits, every December 8th, until a solemn procession moves it, in the afternoon, to the parish temple of Santiago, where liturgical acts are celebrated in its honour.

Town Hall
After the transfer of the Council from the town of Aledo to the "suburb of Totana", the Town Hall was built throughout the 16th century.
The building that houses the Town Hall is one of the most modern Town Halls in the region. It was remodelled in the 19th century and restored again during the 1990s. However, it is still possible to observe the wooden ceilings on the top floor and the vaults in the basement.
Of the four façades of the building, the rear one is the only one that has been completely rehabilitated, while the rest retain the aesthetic characteristics of the 16th century.

Casa de Las Contribuciones
The House of Contributions is an impressive architectural work that can be seen from the Plaza de la Constitución. Its modernist style, typical of the early twentieth century, stands out for a façade adorned with moldings, garlands and imposts, and has a balcony and a bay window on the first floor, as well as a continuous balcony on the second level.
Originally, the building was built to collect and administer taxes from the town of Totana. Today, it serves as the headquarters of several municipal agencies and the local police. From this place, you can enjoy a magnificent view of the Town Hall and the Juan de Uzeta fountain, located in the Plaza de la Constitución.

Santa Eulalia de Mérida Sanctuary Festivity
One of the highlights of the year are undoubtedly the celebrations surrounding the bringing of the image of Santa Eulalia from her mountain top retreat into the centre of town in December and her subsequent return in January.
These festivities have their beginnings in the seventeenth century, when Totaneros, residents of the Guadalentín valley and other places, went to the Ermita de la Sierra (today declared an Asset of Cultural Interest and located in the Natural Park of La Santa in the foothills of Sierra Espuña). attracted by the many miracles granted by La Santa and where they found shelter from the cold night with food and drink provided by the butlers as well as the joy of sharing dances and circles.

Totana Holy Week
Totana is famous for its Holy Week, declared of Regional Tourist Interest, in which the Procession of the Holy Burial stands out on Good Friday and whose origin dates back to the middle of the 17th-century.
This festival has a deep-rooted tradition The religious style shows its own personality, richness and colour profiles. This date is eagerly awaited by the Totaneros to dress in their hoods and tunics or simply to observe from squares and balconies processional parades.
There is a long tradition of Thursday processions and Good Friday, days when the largest number of brotherhoods parade. The procession of these brotherhoods is accompanied by an orchestra of violins, percussion and winds. The banners that parade in front of the thrones, some of them very ancient, add a splash of colour. Totana's Holy Week concludes on Easter Sunday with an emotional procession of the Risen One.
Romería de la Santa
January 7th is the date on which the people of Totana hold their traditional pilgrimage when the image of 'Santa Eulalia', accompanied by a great procession, is returned to her retreat in the mountains from the parish church of 'Santiago' (Saint James).
The festivities begin early in the morning at nine o'clock when both pilgrims and local dignitaries, in the same state of excitement, commence the pilgrimage towards the retreat. Once they arrive at 'El Rulo', the authorities bid goodbye to the Saint, whilst the pilgrims continue their ascent of the mountain, all the way singing and dancing to the sound of guitars and castanets and, more importantly, drinking 'mantellina' to keep out the cold. Once at the summit, they prepare themselves for the descent with a typical dish of rice and rabbit, which is cooked and eaten al fresco.
