Church of San Lázaro Obispo
The Church of San Lázaro Obispo is located on the site of the old Christian church of which we have news in the fourteenth century under the patronage of San Lázaro, possibly built on the site of the old mosque. The temple was enlarged in the sixteenth century under the patronage of the Marquis of los Vélez and rebuilt in the first half of the eighteenth century with the architectural approaches of the Baroque, highlighting its ashlar façade divided into two bodies.
The neoclassical imprint is reflected in the chapel of the Communion or of the Rosary, the sacristy and the chapel of San Lázaro, works carried out in the transition from the eighteenth to the nineteenth centuries, under the direction of the architect Lorenzo Alonso.
It was declared a BIC (Asset of Cultural Interest) in 2005.

Church of La Concepción
The church of La Concepción has a large square where visitors can see its entire front, restored in the late 20th century. The church follows the type of Murcian Baroque with only one nave, vaulted roof of lunettes and chapels facing the central nave. Originally, a niche with the image of the Inmaculada Concepción stood in its main facade stood where a new plant bell now has been built and entries expanded. A new restoration took place in 2009, adding a third body to the tower.
The old chapel of the church of the 18th century is kept behind the altar of the Church, with pilasters and architrave, and covered with a dome. It has paintings of floral and gold leaf decorations. These have been restored in recent years.

Town Hall & Plaza de la Constitución
The Town Hall, an old noble house, retains its original façade although since 1986 it has been converted inside into an attractive, modern set of offices is the home to the local council and the Town Hall.
The square outside is the focal point for much of the towns social and cultural activity, with many of the artesan markets and fiesta-related activities taking place in the Plaza de la Constitución.
There is parking below the Plaza in the underground car park, and this is a useful location to park for visiting the tourist office which is on the edge of the Plaza.

Archaeological Museum of the Baths
At the foot of the Castle, in the 1st century A.D., the Romans built an important thermal complex which would be used until the 4th century.
The singularity of the thermal baths in Alhama lies in the fact that there is a complex with two different areas: one for recreational use and the other one for the medicinal bath, with separated spaces for each sex.
In the recreational area, the typical bathrooms of the Roman world are preserved with gradual change of temperature. However, the changing room (apodyterium) has disappeared. These rooms preserve the restored original structures from 2000 years ago: the cool room (frigidarium), warm room (tepidarium), heated room (caldarium) and a swimming pool. The rooms received the heat from a connection with an oven (praefurnium), from which the hot air circulated under the flooring and by the walls through corresponding air chambers.
The second thermal area is the most important and is composed of two monumental domed rooms which got the water from El Baño spring. Both rooms are the centre of the complex, with a common swimming pool and skylights on the ceiling of each one to regulate the lighting and temperature of the thermal environment.

Alhama de Murcia Markets
Alhama de Murcia holds its weekly street market on Tuesday mornings in Avenida Juan Carlos I, where traders are usually setting up by 08:00 and the market closes at around 14.00. It's a good-sized market, with a full range of clothing, food and household items on sale.
In addition, there is an indoor food market open on a daily basis in the Mercado Público, or Plaza de Abastos. This building was constructed in 1928 following the design of modernist architect Pedro Cerdán, who was born in Torre Pacheco and was also responsible for several important buildings throughout the Region of Murcia.
The market retains the essence of its original construction and is open on a daily basis, selling a full range of local produce as well as household items and clothing: a colourful and atmospheric introduction to daily Spanish life for anyone visiting the Region of Murcia for the first time!.
The Plaza de Abastos is also in Avenida Juan Carlos I, on the corner almost opposite the tourist office. The underground car park directly beneath the Town Hall in Plaza de la Constitución is usually the easiest place to park and is only a 2-minute walk from the marketplace.
